A New Start Up In Africa
Although the start-up is situated in South Africa, it refers to itself as an African automobile manufacturer because a team of Africans from numerous countries are leading the initiative. The initial items will come from a strategic alliance with the SAIPA Group, Iran's second-largest automaker, which will provide platforms and components, though ultimately the company plans to produce its own goods. The Prim8, a crossover hatchback, will be the first model to hit the market. You can see the prototype starting on Wednesday because it will be on show at the Automechanika Exhibition at Nasrec in Johannesburg from September 18 to 21.
Manufacturing of Prim8
It's interesting to note that the hatchback will eventually give birth to a half-ton bakkie, sedan, and small SUV, and that plans are being made for a one-ton range of bakkies as well. In the beginning, the Prim8 will be put together in a Rosslyn SKD kit assembly facility, along with the Willowvale factory in Zimbabwe and the former Hyundai factory in Botswana. Production of CKD will probably start later.
The Infrastructure of Prim8
A 17.8cm touchscreen scheme with satnav, keyless cruise control, a power-adjustable driver's seat, 4 airbags, ESP power steering, ABS, and tyre pressure tracking are among the features that the compact crossover hatch will have. According to Mureza, the price of the vehicle in the fully equipped form will range between $12,500 and $13,500. A three-year warranty will also be provided for the vehicle.
Tatenda Mungofa, one of the project's organisers, notes that with a new model that isn't very expensively above the latter, the company hopes to bridge the gap between the conventional new cars and the used imports that are offered throughout most of Africa.
The Collaboration With Small Channel Partners
As an initial step for our startup entity, we will also work with those who are marketing used importation to market our new models. We will help them build up service facilities and appoint autonomous maintenance outlets in the many Sub - saharan countries we are pursuing.
The corporation would consider working with small channel partners who are unable to handle massive production runs in an effort to assist them in expanding their operations. Beginning in 2020, The Mureza Auto Company plans to start producing at its initial plant in Rosslyn, where it hopes to hire up to 1000 people, primarily for manual labor, as it increases daily production from 10 to 35 cars.
